Beginner
I
This hot Latin dance has become the latest
rage. With an emphasis on
having FUN, students will learn the basics of Salsa and fundamentals of
dance technique that can be applied to any social dance. Students will
learn: the basic step, the emergency step (in Salsa), and individual
and partnered basic Salsa turns. In addition, you will receive “dance
tips” that will distinguish you as a desirable dance partner. The goal
is to get you to say “Ooooh Salsa” while you dance to that hot Salsa
beat.
Beginner
II
This
course is designed to increase your familiarity with Salsa. Building on
what students learned in Beginner I, it will introduce students to
leading and following techniques and varied turn patterns. Also, the
course will cover individual footwork; it will give students an
opportunity to master the individual footwork needed to handle turn
patterns in this course and turn patterns in more advanced courses.
Further, students will be introduced to the Salsa cross body and turn
patterns with cross body variations. The goal of this course is to take
the beginner Salsa dancer
to a level of familiarity that will set them on their way to becoming a
seasoned Salsa dancer.
Intermediate I
If you've already had some beginner classes
in Salsa and are ready to move on to more exciting and challenging
moves this is the course for you. Building on the basics, this course
sets you on your way to mastering the individual footwork and
partnering technique needed to become a seasoned Salsa dancer. With FUN
being the first priority, you'll learn cool moves like the right turn,
right hook combination and the ubiquitous Salsa cross body. Also,
Leading and following technique will be taught, which will improve your
dance skills. The goal is to get your partner to say "Ooooh Salsa"
while you dance to that hot Salsa beat.
Intermediate 1.5
This course is for the seasoned Salsa dancer.
It is designed to
give students the fundamentals needed to become an advanced Salsa
dancer. This course will cover standard intermediate/advanced turn
patterns and partnering technique. Also, it will introduce students to
beginner and some intermediate shines (individual footwork done when
dancing apart). In addition, it will cover some Salsa styling for the
ladies and men. NOTE: Instructor permission is required. Intermediate I

Intermediate II
This course is for the seasoned Salsa dancer.
In addition to giving students the opportunity to practice skills
acquired in the lower levels, this course is designed to give students
the technique and the repertoire of cool moves needed to become an
advanced Salsa dancer. This course will cover standard
intermediate/advanced turn patterns and partnering technique. This will
include the copa and copa plus variations and the cross body outside
turn, among others. Also, it will cover some intermediate/advanced
shines (individual footwork done when dancing apart). In addition, it
will cover some Salsa styling for the ladies and men. Mastering the
material in this course will get you ready for the advanced level.
